In the interview below, WordLift tell us about its unique approach to elevating companies's visibility.

How was WordLift born?

WordLift started out as a semantic editor as part of a European research project called Intelligent Knowledge Stack (IKS). Its purpose was to facilitate the creation of Content Knowledge Graphs in a user-friendly way. However, in 2016, we recognized the significant potential of the semantic editor and its associated structured data in the realm of SEO. We finally found a market fit and incorporated it into a company in January 2017.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
In 10 years, WordLift aims to be the go-to platform for creating Knowledge Graphs, akin to how WordPress revolutionized content management. Our tools will simplify data for organizations and our main goal will remain steadfast: to build data that helps organizations be found.

We will strive to elevate companies' visibility through content marketing and SEO. We will focus on two crucial areas:

  • Enhancing LLM Applications: WordLift provides LLMs with in-context semantic data to bolster their effectiveness. Through integrating advanced natural language processing, we will continue to enable Knowledge Graphs to structure and analyze diverse data including text documents, PDFs, and more traditional structured formats like CSVs and SQL tables.
  • Data-Loading, Ontology creation and Transformation: Moving beyond traditional ETL tools, WordLift is pioneering graph-based solutions and ontologies for SEO and digital marketing tasks.

By aligning advanced data management with content marketing, WordLift will continue to empower organizations to make data-driven, contextually-aware decisions and maximize their online presence through enriched Knowledge Graphs.

What was the biggest challenge?
The first major hurdle involved assembling a diverse and talented team proficient in natural language processing, graph databases, and content creation. The second obstacle entailed effectively conveying a forward-thinking vision in which data is not only open and decentralized but also intricately connected to fuel online business growth through improved visibility and SEO.
WordLift made a pioneering leap from the realm of Semantic Web Research into the SEO industry, armed with a visionary perspective that anticipated the evolution of web documents into interactive, conversational experiences. This was five years ago. Back in 2017, advocating the significance of semantic data was a daunting task in itself; doing so within the context of a nascent SEO technique was groundbreaking. The strategy proved successful, and the industry is now recognizing the indispensable role that semantically rich data plays in the era of Generative AI.

Who is the ideal investor?
The ideal investor sees generative AI as a strategic marketing asset but looks for responsible and sustainable utilization solutions that can support companies in growing and expanding their business safely. The ideal investor is the one that can nurture the core value of a startup and help in taking the decisions a company needs to make to innovate and grow.

What are the trends in your sector?
In 2023, the SEO landscape is undergoing seismic shifts. This year witnesses the emergence of the generative web, characterized by the deployment of large language models trained to automate content generation, thereby enhancing search experiences. The spotlight is on crafting high-caliber content that complies with Google's E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trustworthiness). Furthermore, multimodal e-commerce search is gaining momentum as businesses employ diverse media forms to elevate user experiences. Amidst economic uncertainty, companies are redoubling efforts to optimize branding and secure organic traffic. It's imperative to recognize that the web is evolving into a more conversational space, and this transformation opens up vast opportunities for those adept at creating semantic data.
